The Wall

Wall

I am a wall -this wall.
One side faces the light,
the other is in darkness.
Bemused,
I stand between two worlds.
The mundane and the momentous;
the trivial and the  crucial.
I have not made the leap
from one to the other.
My reality has changed
but not my mindset.
The dust of the desert
still holds me in thrall.
The soft UK spring has yet
to draw me in, and so I am
as this wall –
for now
I stand between …

thoughts for those returning from operations in dangerous places, and thanks to James Rainsford for the brilliant photo that helped me to find the words.

Captures a sense of perceived duality in many ways through your metaphor. Very well written; excellent use of prompt, Sally.

I like being in both places at once, though, quite often the words to express it, as it is to me, do not work in the perceptions of others. This made me want to have conversations with you about how you feel about this subject.
